Grots!

I decided to paint some Grots while waiting for my Killa kans to recive (and of course to paint something a little bit different from the big bad Nobz). For my grots I will go for a lighter and more yellow skintone comparing to my Nobz. Or ar least, that´s my plan (at this very moment). I will post a pic on my first test- mini I did last night.
For the skin I used VMC Extra dark green(70896) as a bascecout and then i highlighted it by adding Dark yellow(70978) to my basecoat. I didn´t use any washes on the skin, since I wanted him to be brighter( young and shiny, you know).

But... I have started to think about Grots in the same skintone as my nobz...decisions, decisions, decisions!

Actually, I painted a test- mini. Why don´t you decide wich one I should go for?
For this Grot a stated again with Extra dark green and then added VMC Stone grey(70884). This one is much more similar to my Nobz, but the other one is a nice contrast. Which one should I choose?

Until next time, happy painting!

Nobz, nobz, nobz, looking for a good time!

I finished another AoBR nob, and I´m rather pleased with the result. Again I used a lot of pigments from Forge world when weathering him. I have said it before, but I can´t say it to much, weathering pigments is for weathering as Devlan mud is for shading (you can use it on almost anything from orkskin, to armour, metall, dirt etc.). Fantastic!

And just to illustrate the use of pigments I have a before an after picture.

The pigments I´ve been using is Orange rust, Dark earth, Black soot and Grey ash. How much weathering you should do on a model is very individual, but this is how I prefer.
Untill, next time. Happy painting!

One more for the grinder!

Last night I finished my next AoBR nob for my orks. I hav recently started to experiment with weathering pigments and I must say that I really love them! It´s unbeliveble simple to archive a very good result even if you lack experience of weathering.
For this ork I used the weathering pigments from Forge World, but I guess that almost any brand will do the trick. I just take a dry brush and brush it over the areas I want to get "dirty", it only take a minute to get a good result. And how it turned out? You be the judge, let me know what you think and please give me cunstructive comments so I can improve as a painter.

Untill next time, happy painting!

Workspace

I thought that I should post a pic of my workspace. It´s not a fancy hobby area just a small corner in our studyroom. Most of my stuff is stored in boxes and on shelves (because of small children).

I have most experience working with GW´s colors but I recently started to exchange all my colors for Vallejo´s since I really liked how they turned out and they are cheaper!
I recently bought the Panzer color paint sett from Vallejo. I really like them, but th Oily Steel paint (something like chainmail from GW) is not working out the way I want. I covers poorly when I thin it down, maybe I just got a bad copy? I will continue to buy some mettalics from Vallejo and see how they work out, othervise I switch back to GW´s mettalics.

If anyone have any good experience in Vallejo´s mettalics let me know. I maybe just using it wrong. Or if you know any brand who has metallics that just knock you down, let me know!
Until next time...happy painting everyone!

3, 2, 1...Let´s go!

My first post on my brand new blog, and that´s feel good! My intensions with this blog is to write about miniaturegames and the whole hobby around them. I have a feeling that I will focus on the painting and modelling section of this hobby, just because thats my main intrest, This blog will also function as a complement to my projectlogs on some Internet forums. One thing I will come back to on a regular basis is my Orks (wh40k).
I´ll end my first post with a pic of one of my latest models, a Meganob painted in the colors of the bad Moon tribe. Hope you will like it!

And here is a pic of one of my AoBR nobs.
